Discovering Bologna with Car Hire

Everthing has been going to schedule since we got here on Friday. We couldn't get a booking for a room in Bologna so we stayed in the nearby village of Ferrara. We found a charming little restaurant in the centre of the town and filled our bellies with local favourites from the Emilia-Romagna region.

The next day we went on a little shopping trip to see what local produc we could find. The quality of the produce was amazing so we stocked up on some fresh fruit for our car hire journey to Bologna. The drive took about 40 minutes and was pretty enough for us to stop and take some photographs.

Bologna is a wonderful city, much under-rated in my opinion. There are lots of pretty buildings to explore and nice shops and restaurants. Of course Bologna is where Spaghetti Bolognese first originated, it's now one of the world's most favourite dishes.

Can't wait to explore more of the city!

Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii

We left Florence with our sights firmly set on discovering Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii. All in all the car hire trip took around six hours, but luckily we had beautiful scenery to gawp at along the way.

By the time we reached our hotel we were fit to sleep. Next morning, we got up early and got the ferry to Capri. Capri is a beautiful holiday destination. There are lovely sea views and picture-postcard backdrops everywhere you look. We even took a boat trip of the ‘green grotto’ and got some wonderful photographs of the famous sea caves.

Agfter all that sight-seeing we’d worked up an appetite and we were starving by the time we got back on the mainland. There’s nothing like a fresh stone-baked pizza to silence a rumbling tummy. We were so hungry that we even had room for dessert…mmmmmmmmm Tiramisu!! Over dinner, we began planning our trip to Sorrento and Pompeii.
